Day&Night

Day&Night

Twilight detector to turn on night light or outdoor lighting at night fall until dawn.

  • 7785302.jpgDusk and dawn transition detection, with smart algorithm to avoid detection error due to night lighting or climatic condition.
  • Synchronized network-detection.
All room-managers will watch for the sunset and the one who detect it first will tell the others to synchronize the transition time.
If for example a room-manager misses the dusk or dawn detection (because of public-lighting or blocked by the shades), the other room-manager will inform it when the transition time comes.
  • Detection time range. You can define the twilight detection time range, for example from 5pm to 9pm, to avoid detection outside twilight time due to climatic conditions.

Morning call

More than a simple alarm clock, the morning-call application helps you start the day with:

  • sunrise.jpgSunrise simulator, using your bedside lamp to simulate the sunrise.

  • Morning time, to maintain the bedroom bright all morning long.
  • Day of the week setting, so you can disable the alarm on weekends.

  • Minimum ambient light setting.
  • Conditional dimmer setting for each lamp, depending on current mode.
This allows you for example, to first have the ambient lighting on when you enter the room and then the main lamp when you stay longer.
  • Continuous lighting evaluation.
When the sun shines back, or when you open the curtain, the room manager turns off the lamps if the day-light is enough to keep the room bright.

modes.png modes

One mode for each occasion. The room-manager can activate automatically one of the modes below, according to your presence. 32016049.jpg

  • In-room mode, when your presence is detected in the room.
  • At-home mode, your presence is detected in other rooms.
  • Sleep mode, while you're sleeping in this room.
  • Night mode, all night long, when the room is left unoccupied.
  • Away mode, while you're away.
  • Vacation mode, during your long vacations.

For each mode, you can configure differently and individually each device and each application. This setting will be applied when the mode is activated. For example, if you fall asleep, the room-manager can activate the sleep-mode automatically, turning off all lights and the TV, and keeping the room warm throughout the night.

Automatic mode changes

The following diagram shows the normal changes of modes that may automatically happen based on your présence. Not all change mode lines are drawn to simplify and clarify the diagram.

modes.png

These mode changes are designed to intuitively move from one state to another depending on your presence. The followings are some illustrations of the most common conditions that leads to the change of modes:

  • Present mode:
istock_000002912308xsmall_family.jpgAs soon as your presence is detected, from other vacant modes (other modes except sleep), the present mode will be activated. From Absent and Vacation mode the mode change is delayed to make sure that it is a persistence presence and not a transient movement that has been detected. (This is to avoid moving to present mode unnecessarily, with all it's consequences: turning on lights, heating, etc.). You can use this delay to turn on dimmly the light, just to show the way when you arrive and not having a very bright lighting at once.
You can associate with this mode all settings for your comfort while you're in the room: heating, lighting, etc.
  • Sleep mode:
istock_000001329021small.jpgIf no movement is observed for a certain period of time, while your presence continue to be detected within the room, the room-manager will propose to move to sleep-mode. (Check the sleep detection for more information) Certainly, when you're truely asleep, then you won't reply to this offer, so therefore no-response will activate the sleep-mode by default. But if you responded, by moving or by touching a button, then the sleep mode will not be activated.
When your presence is no longer detected (you moved out of the room), the sleep mode will move to either AtHome mode or Night mode, depending on the time of day.
You can activate in this mode the proper settings for your sleep time: heating at 19C, very low lighting for when you're awaken, etc.
  • AtHome mode:
P2040667-sunset.jpgFrom present mode, if there's no movement detected within the room for a certain period of time, then the room-manager will move to AtHome mode.
From this mode, when no presence is detected within the house for a longer period of time, then it will move to Absent mode. Otherwise the AtHome mode will be maintained until the last room-managers declares that your presence is no longer detected. This way, a moment after you leave all room-managers will move to away mode at the same time.
You can associate in this mode, a lower heating setting, and dimmer light to be activated when you're returning to the room.
  • Night Mode :
istock_000001564170small.jpgWhen the night falls, and there's no presence detected in the room, then the NightMode will be activated.
Night Mode will not be activated if you're never present at least once within the night time, neither from Absent Mode nor from Vacation Mode.
Contrary to the AtHome mode, the Night-Mode will remains active throughout the night until the morning time comes, in which case it will move back to AtHome mode.
This mode is used to save energy in rooms that are not occupied during the night. You can also set a very low light to keep some lighting if necessary.
  • Absent mode:
istock_000001473857xsmall.jpgThis mode is activated only from AtHome mode when no presence is detected within the house for a longer period of time (default: 10 minutes). If other room-managers announces that you're present in other room, then the AtHome mode will be maintained.
You can close the window-shutter, set for lower temperature and other energy-saving settings to be applied while you're away.
  • Vacation mode:
vacance_snow-small.jpgFor a much longer period of time (default 24 hours) the vacation mode will be activated.  Similar to the Absent mode, presence detected will bring the mode back to Present mode, and other room-manager detection will bring it to AtHome mode.
A much lower temperature can be applied for this mode to save more energy while you're on a prolonged absence.

Parameters

All timings for mode changes can be modified from the Parameters menu. For normal use, the defaults values should be sufficient.

Manual Mode Changes

From main menu you can activate manually the different modes availables. As soon as a mode is activated, a change mode screen appears with a countdown to the activation of the mode.

Normally you can use this to change to sleep mode, or to Vacation mode as you leave the house, or to verify setting for any mode in particular.

Read more about different settings in the User Manual.
