How it works

Different operating modes according to your presence

The room manager is aware of your presence in the room. That's how it is able to manage heating, lighting and other appliances appropriately, as necessary, when you are there, and when you're away. According to your presence, the room manager runs different operating modes, in which you can configure applications and appliances in different manner:

presence.jpg
  • In room mode: You can set the lights and heating at comfortable level the way you like it when you're present in the room.
  • Sleep mode: Setting to be applied when you're asleep in this room.
  • At-home mode: Set the ambiance when you're elsewhere around the house.
  • Night mode, when everybody has gone to bed, you can save energy by setting for lower temperature, and if you wish, you can also leave a night light on.
  • Away mode, settings to save energy during your absent.
  • Vacation mode, for longer absence, the room manager may help you save energy further, it is best however, to keep temperature just above freezing level.

Applications

sunrise.jpgMorning Call

Imagine waking up in the morning with a soft warm lights that gradually rise up just like the sunrise....

As the Sunrise Simulator wakes you up softly, the alarm melody is just there to remind you that it is time to get off bed.

A while earlier, the preheat function has already turned on the bathroom heater so that the bathroom and the towel will be warm when you actually get up. And all through the morning time, the bedroom will be brightly lit, to keep the ambient up. The MorningCall is one of room-service application designed to help you start the day.

There are other applications that can run simultaneously within the room manager:

  • Autoheating: A thermostat program to manage heaters based on your presence, to save energy when you're not there, to keep you warm when you're around.
  • Autolighting: Lights on when you're there, when it's necessary, and off when you're away.

You can download new applications into the room manager. More applications are available and more are on the way.

Meet Daisy and Wally

Daisy is ingénovie's first room-manager. She's responsible for managing heating, lighting and other appliances in the room.  Not bigger than a compact disk, she sits simply on a desk, coffee table, or you can have it mounted on the wall if you prefer, with the wallmount version Wally.

The room manager controls heating and lighting by sending commands to the smaller modules LiSwitch and PoSwitch. Learn more about other features and also Liswitch and Poswitch that helps Daisy to manage the room...

Installation

install.jpg

Installation is easy,

Room managers and other small modules simply plug into a wall outlet. Only the PoSwitch needs to be installed in place of a cable exit behind the radiator.

No extra wiring, no renovation works, the existing electrical installation can be used.

Whole house coverage. The room manager and the smaller modules talks to each other using powerline networking. Therefore all electrical appliances can be controlled individually.

Safety fallback! With room service system, your existing electrical wiring is still operational. Moreover, each room-manager is an independent unit, as it's not a centralized system, so failure in one room does not lead to another.

Starts small wherever you'd like, and grow as you deem necessary

You decide where to start installing the room-services, and you can grow the system as you deem necessary. Most will start from the living room, so that the room-manager can lights up the room and warm the house as you return from work. Other rooms can then benefit from the heating regulation and the energy saving just by installing PoSwitch behind each radiator.

Ultrasonic occupancy détector

ultrason.jpgThanks to our ultrasonic occupancy detector, the room manager is aware of your presence in the room. Taking this into account, together with other parameters such as temperature and ambient lighting, the room manager can operate in higher degree of autonomy allowing it to manager automatically heating, lighting and other appliances.

The ultrasonic occupancy detector fills in the room with ultrasonic wave and analyse the reflected waves. These sensors have wide coverage, and reflected waves fills every corner in the room, such that the position of the sensor within the room is not very important. The only requirement is that they must be facing the space in the room and not blocked by any object. Do not cover as they won't be able to detect your presence.

The occupancy detector can distinguish two types of movements:

  • Motion detection: for detecting movements such as when someone walks into the room, to as little as when someone watch TV or read a book.
  • Presence detection:Detects your breathing! The air turbulence created when you breath is used to detect your presence. So even when you're sleeping motionless, the room manager can detect if you're there, as long as you keep on breathing.

Different operating modes for different situations

Based on the occupancy detector, the room manager may run in one of the following modes

inroom.jpg

Contextual Configurations

You can create different configurations for each modes, for applications or appliances managed by the room manager:

  • Thermostat level.
  • Dimmer level (for lamp with dimming function)
  • Power setting for the radiator
  • etc.
